All other things nerd

Ok, so I was wondering, how many of you guys are obsessed with other "nerd" things (as many people call them) besides Harry Potter? Me? I'm completely obsessed with Lord of the Rings (LotR is what got me obsessed with HP) and I've recently become totally obsessed with Star Wars. My mom keeps telling me to watch Star Trek because she thinks I will become whole heartedly obsessed if I watch it. (She's not a Star Trek person, or a nerd person for that matter, I just think she wants me to talk about something other that HP (Particularly Harry Potter) , LotR and SW for a while. haha) I probably will become obsessed, so that is on my "nerdy things to do" list. Though I don't think anything will ever replace Harry Potter for me.

Well, I'm not exactly obsessed with anything else. But I'm reading LotR right now (closing in on the end of the Fellowship of the Ring), and have always enjoyed SW. My friend was completely and utterly obsessed with SW for a while, I might borrow some books from her (she has about 40,000,000).

I'd definitely watch ST if I were you, the original series was AMAZING! Cardboard and styrofoam props.... gotta love it. The individual episodes have good stories to them. (A lot of people like Trouble with Tribbles of the 2nd season best). I personally can't stand the next generation Star Trek stuff, but whatever.

But yes, no matter how amazing anything else is, Harry Potter will never be replaced. It'll always have a special place in my heart.

I used to be completely obsessed with Star Wars! But then later on, it was replaced with Harry but I still love Star Wars. I knew so much about the Star Wars universe it practically filled up every corner of my brain so it was all I talked about (example: I know all the names in the Ewok tribe ). And then, as mentioned before, Harry came along and my life was changed.

I'm also a fan of Marvel. Spiderman, Iron-Man, X-Men, Wolverine, Fantastic 4, Hulk, Deadpool... I'd go on but there are too many and about 97% of other Marvel characters you might not know, haha. Though I wouldn't say I'm a nerd. I picked all my Marvel knowledge from my brother.

Oh, oh, oh! And Disney! Who can forget Disney?! Disney nerd right here! Not the rubbish like Hannah Montana and such they have these days though. I'm a Classic Disney nerd! hee hee

Haha, same here! I absolutly love watching all the classic Disney movies like The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, The Lion King, Cinderella, and so on and so forth.

Classic Disney, LOTR, obscure fantasy, and I'm a total theatre geek. Think random breaking into song, dance number, whole shows memorized, Shakespeare references in everyday conversations. I'm kind of just a nerd all round.... on Sparknotes, they asked us to post nerdy things about ourselves, and my list was the longest by far, and encompassed quite a lot. Pretty funny, actually.

Well I guess I'm a theatre nerd too, I have so many nerdy things about be that I don't normally consider my theatreness geeky. The main reason I want to go back to school is to be in theatre again. I guess I'm also a singing nerd. I'm pretty much a nerd all around too, except with math and computers, I can't stand them. But I'm a total English geek.

My friends call ourselves nerd-force-five. But not because of other books, but because we are all in honors classes and I honestly can't have a normal conversation with one of them without bringing up math/science/grammar or with only one of them Harry Potter. Our parties consist of completing science labs/homework and arguing the symbols for interception or complement. I haven't read LoTR or SW but I plan to read LoTR in the near future. Most of my jokes are related to school too... so I guess I'm your average geek, but with only one fictional obsession . That's why I'm a Ravenclaw!

I am a professional actress, and yet I'm only 12.
I love to sing songs from musicals. I always dance along. Even at school.
Instead of telling someone to bug off, I'll tell them: "Get you gone, you dwarf, you minimis of hindering knot-grass made, you bead, you acorn!" (Midsummer Night's Dream).
I like to wear costumes to everyday places. (I regularly wear wings to Staples).
The owner of the local coffee shop calls me "smart girl."
People actually call me "the walking dictionary."
I read over 150 books last year; each with over 250 pages.
After reading "A Comedy of Errors" for school, I found myself actually thinking in Shakesperian English.
In almost all photos of me, I'm reading.
The Renaissance Fair is my favorite place in the world.
I am well known for useless tidbits and facts that are worthless to others, but very interesting.
I thoroughly studied the Smithsonian book of Gems and Minerals when I was in Kindergarten.
I wanted to be mummified when I died when I was five, and I decided that i should learn all I could about it so I could give my mom instructions.
I often pretend to be a character from a book in public.
My favorite youtube videos ever have to do with Harry Potter.
When I was in fourth grade, i decided to recopy the dictionary into a notebook so I could have it with me all the time. I stopped at G.
I did eventually get a copy of the dictionary and thesaurus to keep in my purse just in case.
I won the school Scrabble competition in third grade, and I have every year since.
I am more comfortable with adults than kids my age.
My mom has to force me to watch tv.
My favorite sport is reading.
I have never been to a sports game, or have I ever watched one on tv, but I feel like I've seen quidditch thousands of times.
I own a highly edited copy of Quidditch Through the Ages, and two copies of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.
I actually read the entire Silmarillion. I do not recommend it.
I won the Theatre Camp talent show two years in a row.
I look up quotes in my spare time- hundreds and hundreds of them. I comprised three books full of them. It took me about three years.
When "IMing", I use semi-perfect grammar and spelling.
Until i was in sixth grade, my favorite music artist was Rimsky-Korsakof. I had never heard of Fergie, Lady Gaga, Lil' Wayne, Kayne West, etc. I still don't like their music.
I have been a vegetarian for three years.
I have been an environmentalist, activist, and feminist almost my entire life.
I have always thought I should have been born during the Renaissance, even though I know it would be hard for me.
The only tv channel I ever watch is History International.
I am a WikiAnswers Supervisor, a Mythbusters Forum Senior Member, and a member of so many different environmental and literary sites, it's scary.
I am obsessed with organizing my USB drive.
My fashion style is somwhat.... eccentric.
I dream about Harry Potter. (And not just Harry Potter; I dream about Harry Potter's dreams. That's weird. And nerdy.)
I read HPDH in six hours straight. My aunt had to take it away and hide it in her safe so that I would stop long enough to eat dinner.
When climbing the escalator at the airport, I fell all the way down it because my carry on bag was too heavy. I had five hardcover books (each 500-700 pgs.) in my bag. I finished them within a few days.
I love Severus Snape. He rocks.
My mom hates sitting next to me on flights. She says random strangers are more companionable that me. I just read the entire flight. We have to keep buying books if we stop somewhere.
I have taught myself to read in the car, even though it makes me sick.
My signature for all my texts is "peace.read.tofu"
I was nominated as President of our school's setion of the Kiwanis Club, but I declined.
When I was in third grade, the Junior High LA teacher at our school had me read a poem of my own composition to her students. She said they needed some inspiration.
I am unbeatable at LOTR trivial pursuit. I have never been beaten in the seven years we have had the game. Ever.
I wake up in the morning by saying "A Elbereth Githoniel!"
My school uniform skirt is at least five inches longer than it has to be.
I almost always wear knee socks to school. (And I live in the desert.)
I always wear my top button buttoned on my school uniform skirt. I've done this since kindergarten.
The nerdiest boy in my class told me I looked like a librarian with my glasses chain last year.
I have my own wooden sword, inscribed with the words "Friend of Middle Earth" in Dwarvish. I translated it myself.
I have a plaque on my door with the poem of the door at Gringotts on it. (Enter stranger, but take heed...)
I have a plaque on my door that says "Do not enter without the express permission of Regulus Arcturus Black."
I have a sign on my door with an edited version of the poem from the LOTR movie: "The way is shut, it way made by those who are girls, and the girls keep it..."
I know exactly what a real Hand of Glory is and how it's made, but can't remember for the life of me how many players are on each team in soccer.
I love tofu.

The first fight my best friend and I ever had was whether or not a tuna fish had spikes.
Our school gives these things called reminder cards. 3 of them in a semester = a detention. You can get them for bad conduct, late assignments, and not following the uniform dress code. I have only ever gotten two in the eight years I have been at this school (K-8 school). I cried so hard when i got them.
I now love WizardWrock. From a musician's point of view, the songs I have heard are horrendous. The artists have no talent. The lyrics are lame. BUT I JUST LOVE IT! Something about Harry Potter always makes my heart rate speed up and the rational part of my brain freeze up as I scream aloud:

*ahem.* I'm better now.

When the seventh book came out, I cried for an hour because I wasn't allowed to wait in line for the book. I had to go to a rock concert instead, where I was dressed in a Harry Potter costume (because I was allowed to go to the release party for a half an hour). I made a sign that said "Severus Snape is Good! Read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Tomorrow!" As we were driving to the party, I kept screaming "I love Severus Snape!" out the window at random passersby. When we got to the party, I had "Snape Is Good" written in facepaint across my nose. There was a man in an amazing Snape costume there; I am still have certain it WAS actually Snape. I walked up to him and looked up at his face (he was like 6'7''.

I said, "I believe in you, Professor Snape."

He looked down his hooked nose at me and said,"I hope I am worthy of your trust," then twirled around in his long black cloak and strode off. It was totally cool.

And, almost more amazing, we also saw a snowy owl in the middle of downtown Denver on that very night as we were walking to the car.

I am insanely jealous of your nerd-dom. I feel so average- and I'm one of the less-average-more-nerdier people I know of. I guess because I live in a really small town, go to a really small school, have a really small group of people to pick my friends from- and have know them since 1st grade. I absolutely love my best friends more than anything, but 2/3 of them can't stand Harry Potter and anything related to it, pretty much because of me and my obsession. They kinda can't stand the fact that I try in school, too much for their liking, and make schoolwork my life. Because, as my parents put it, school's my job and I pretty much have to get straight As.

I really used to struggle with shyness and was scared of what people thought of me- that's why my all-out HP obsession didn't start 'till this year. I've been getting over that, but it's still there, and AW has helped considerably.

OMG same! I decided that being a nerd is just too much FUN to act "normal" at all anymore! I think that some of my friends are starting to get annoyed with me, so that's kind of what's holding me back. But I've got one friend who I know will always accept that true part of my being <3 love her! But I'm not full-on nerd, because I do play a lot of sports and I think myself to be quite good, as my coaches have told me so.

That's exactly why I look up to you! You're not afraid of being who you are. In elementary school I was so focused on "will my friends like me?" I was so focused on if I could fit in and to not be weird in people's eyes. You definitely have the qualities of someone I look up to. Maybe part of it was that I go to a really small school, and everyone grew up together pretty much and we know everything about each other because of that. A lot of people have known each other since they were in diapers.

But siriusly, you definitely have the qualities I look up to in a person. I do have a lot of role models, different pieces of people's personalities that I all look up to.

Are you starting HS next year? If so, have fun. That's good that you'll meet a lot of new people I'm starting HS in a few weeks, but my school's 7-12 so I know everyone already and will be stuck with them until I graduate. (My entire grade is around 50 kids. I go to a public school too)

I am starting HS next year. My grade's around 65, but it's a private school, which makes it kind of annoying. The school's not very diverse, nor is it very accepting, so I get kind of annoyed with how remarkably un-magical everyone is. My school's pre-K - 8, so we truly have known everyone since we were really, really young.

Aww, that stinks about it not being very diverse. My school's just.... weird. Mostly everyone in the school is related to someone else (not including siblings). Except me, I only have my brother. And where I live, you can't turn your head without seeing farms/fields. My friend went to a camp for a few weeks and she said no one believed her about farms and fields everywhere.

On a different topic, I love everyone's nerd-dom here. It's amazing.

Thank you! My emergency kit is actually kind of huge. Besides all the regular stuff (you know, band-aids, hair ties, etc.), I also have a wand, a mini-journal, a golf pencil, a toffee, a little book to read, mini altoids, and yes, the kaleidoscope. I keep it in there to distract any dangerously bored children, and to keep me from being bored, because I'm very easily amused.

Star Wars was my first foray into nerddom, when I was seven. (In 1995... Jeez, now I feel old... I think I'm the oldest person who posts here, actually. *grabs walker*) Nowadays, it's Doctor Who, The Twilight Zone, Disney movies, sci-fi, dystopian-future novels (like 1984 and Brave New World), theater, and horseback riding. Oh, and Goth lifestyle; once a Goth, always a Goth.
